Daniel Foulke Moore

Daniel Foulke Moore, Chester county, was born in Upper Merion township, Montgomery county, July 24 1841; his early life was spent on his father's farm, attending public schools in the winter; subsequently he attended a private school in West Chester and Gwynedd boarding school; he learned telegraphy and in 1862 he entered the employ of the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad Company; in August, 1862, he enlisted in company E, One Hundred and Twenty-eighth regiment, P.V., for the period of nine months; re-enlisted "for the emergency" during the Gettysburg campaign for four months; he then re-entered the Philadelphia and Reading service and remained in that service until January, 1870, when he became a partner in the firm of Caswell & Moore in the stove, tin and roofing business, his present occupation; he was appointed assistant adjutant general upon the staff of General J.R. Dobson, of the National Guard of Pennsylvania, after the war; was a member House of Representatives, session of 1893.
