Reading Man Heads Yergers; Mrs. Henry Davidheiser, 83, of Pottstown, Oldest at Ninth Annual Gathering
War times did not have any effect on the Yerger family reunion held at Ringing Rocks Park on Saturday. At least it did not keep down the attendance, for over 275 members of the clan met in the ninth annual reunion. The day was an ideal one to spend in the woods and a delightful time was enjoyed by all.
The first members of the family started for the park about 10:30. At noon all sat down to a good old fashioned dinner at long tables.
At two o’clock the family assembled in the pavilion when the business meeting was opened by the president, James Yerger, of Reading. An interesting address was given on the history of the Yerger family.
Election of Officers.
The election of officers was held and resulted as follows: President, James M. Yerger, Reading; first vice-president, Abraham M. Yerger, Pottstown; second vice-president, William A. Yerger, Oley; recording secretary, John W. Yerger, Sanatoga; corresponding secretary, Mark Yeager Hendrick, Pottstown; treasurer, Percival L. Yerger, Gilbertsville; historian, Homer Dowlin, Philadelphia; assistant historian, Prof. Warren K. Yerger, Wilmington, and pianist, Mrs. U. S. G. Finkbiner, Royersford. The committee on arrangements was: John W. Yerger, Sanatoga, chairman; Miss Edwardine Tyson, Limerick; Miss Hetty Y. Yerger, Friedensbur; James H. Knause and Ralph Mack, of Pottstown.
The oldest member of the family who attended the reunion was Mrs. Henry Davidheiser, of Pottstown, aged 83, and the youngest, Mark Brendlinger, aged 13 months, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Brendlinger, of Boyertown. There were 12 births during the year and six members were reported having died.
It was decided to hold the reunion next year at Sanatoga Park. The date or the committee on arrangements has not been settled as yet.
